Gaanam, the noun form of "singing" in Sanskrit, is a holistic celebration of singing. The piece explores ways through which the treatment of the voice in Carnatic music can be incorporated into ensemble work. Featuring melodic gamakams, rhythmic konnakol, intricate solos, aleatoricism, and polyrhythms, Gaanam is a demanding but rewarding and immersive piece about how we come together through music.
